OUR LEGACY

History of Maple Baptist Church

The Maple and sometimes called Vaughan outreach which now called Maple Baptist Church was initially startedwithout a called pastor, it is only by God and by faith that it was born.>

In life, there are two kinds of failure: actions and inactions. You can fail by starting a church; that won't be successful or by not starting a church at all. Most people predict that it's the inactions they'll regret more.

When people reflect on their biggest regrets, they wish they could redo the inactions, not the actions. In the long run, people of every age and in every walk of life seem to regret not having done things much more than they regret things they did. Ultimately, what we regret is not failure, but the failure to act. Therefore, the core leaders of Maple Baptist Church acted upon the call even without an official pastor and thus, the Maple Baptist church was born.

Paul admonished us in Philippians 4:13-14 to think ahead and press on.. "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

The prospect of planting church at the North of Toronto had been brewing for a number of years since year 2000. In fact the original vision and the target location of the Victory Cell Group Jr, where North Victory Baptist Church was formed, had always been a church plant at North of Toronto. But Through the Sovereign will of God, God planted NVBC at the Central part of Toronto, close to the Downsview subway station. God has blessed; North Victory Baptist Church tremendously and after eight years at that area, NVBC were able to buy a building of its own and moved to 432 Rogers, which is 16KM away from original target area of North of Toronto.

In 2012, the year when NVBC just bought a building, the original vision to plant church at North of Toronto, was re-ignited. The reason is not because of the move to 432 Rogers that re-ignited the vision, but because that vision had not been erased from the mind of those core leaders and had been  lingering in their minds since year 2000. This original vision was sometimes brought up in a casual conversation of those leaders and even in the cell groups gathering. So the seed was already there, it just a matter of time to sprout. So the core leaders of MBC conducted a feasibility study and found three compelling reasons as to why start a church plant at North of Toronto which are as follows:

  • Vaughan is known to be the city above Toronto and a sister city of Baguio city Philippines. -Home of Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan.
  • Vaughan is one of Canada's fastest growing cities, with a population of over 250,000. It is projected that the number of residents will increase to 430,000 by 2031.
  • The Subway Spadina Line is coming to Vaughan and will be operational in 2015. High rise buildings are being built. Vaughan specifically Maple and Woodbridge will become a high density populated area in the near future..

With this, the group device a vision and a plan which as follows:

The Vision of
to reach out the people of Vaughan with the gospel thru church plant.

And the plan
start with gospel hour every Sunday and convert it to self-governing independent church once a pastor is called to lead the church in Vaughan.

On May 27, 2012, the group presented the plan to the NVBC Board of Directors which was warmly accepted.

On November 4, 2012, the MBC core group conducted a planning session to formalize the plans, strategies, budgets, activities and assigning responsibilities for each major ministries.

In December of 2012, the plan for Maple Baptist Church including the budget of $5000 was presented to the NVBC congregation and it was unanimously approved.

On February 3, 2013 at 4pm, the biggest event in MBC maple history, the first ever service, which is called gospel hour was conducted at Patricia Kemp Community Centre with Pastor Henry Manansala as speaker and with a meaningful special number from the men and MBC core team entitled "Where You Lead Me, I Will Follow";

In January 2014, Pastor Nars, responded to the call to become the Pastor of Maple Baptist Church in a part-time basis and at the same month, MBC converted the Gospel hour into church regular worship service and structured the church in such a way as a real full fledge church by establishing Sunday school, Men's, ladies, single, youth and other ministries, including prayer meetings and Bible Study groups.

On December 7, 2014, the congregation gathered together voted for a name and chose Maple Baptist Church as its official name.

Since NVBC sprouted from bible Study group, MBC continues the tradition and practice of starting and maintaining bible study groups. Bible Study Group is so invaluable and so effective that Jesus used it to train the men who would be known as the apostles (Luke 6:12). Since MBC's inception in 2013, In addition to the existing Phileo and LIFE cellgroups. MBC formed three new bible study groups namely: The Seekers and The Sojourners and adopted the Citizens of heaven cell group that formed by Sister Jenny Sundey;.

On August 15, 2015, By God, Maple Baptist Church started to make a history - A baby church and yet to be self-governing church, already thinking of birthing another church. A baby church conceiving another baby is unthinkable. On this date, The Guelph Bible Study group was launched and borned, led by Pastor Arnel Lindongan and  his assistant Bro. Jimmy Queddeng

On December 12, 2015, facilitated by Pastor Arnel Lindogan, conducted a meeting for planning and brain storming session with the MBC core leaders regarding a project of planting church in Guelph, and in this meeting it was unanimously  decided to start the church worship service in Guelph with a target date of January of 2016.. Thus,  on January 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Evergreen Seniors Community Centre, the first ever worship service and the first ever church plant of MBC at Guelph was born. A Baby church has just now become a mother church.

The greatest missionary in history by the name of Apostle Paul, had a rather simple, two-fold strategy to propagate the gospel: First, he went into the largest city of the region (cf. Acts 16:9,12), and second, he planted churches in each city (cf. Titus 1:5). At MBC, we endeavor to do the same.

Maple Baptist Church is now in the process of applying a charity with the government and once approved, it will become a self-governing, independent church.

During the first year of MBC, MBC has average regular attendees of 45 and now MBC has regular attendees of 70.

As of December 2015, MBC has 67 official members and as of this date, MBC already baptized newly converted 12 individuals and another four Individuals will be baptized next month.
